Nature here is so beautiful that you cannot help but commit to protecting it.

We were already very concerned before arriving in the Lot and were constantly concerned with creating the conditions for our autonomy.

At L'Escale de Varaire, our actions are simple and pragmatic:

Concerning water, we have chosen the FONTAIGUE central from Confort et Eaux, which filters limescale and pollutants like no other system. Here we are really talking about drinking water: no aluminum, no pesticides, nitrates, heavy metals and no limescale. With us you will find the happiness of purified water, without an unpleasant taste. No need for bottled water and here, your hair and skin will say THANK YOU!

All our taps are equipped with aerators, our shower heads reduce water consumption by 30% and we take advantage of collecting rainwater to water our vegetable garden.

Concerning electricity, we had a 6 KWc solar power plant installed by our partner CC ENERGIE , who helped us size our project according to our needs and our activity. Today, the generous sun of the Lot provides us with at least 60% of our electricity needs, and helps us reduce our impact on the environment both in terms of CO² emissions and fossil fuel consumption.

Regarding heating, we are continuing our actions by installing wood stoves in homes that can accommodate one, such as MAISON 1765 or the Chambre Four à Pain. It changes everything and what a pleasure to enjoy a good fire in the fireplace! As for personal accommodation, we have removed electric radiators in favor of a 6 KW mass stove from PRSE that we installed ourselves. What satisfaction, what pleasure and above all what thermal comfort! It must be said that we are lucky to have a specialist in this type of heating in the village, it helps! In terms of wood consumption, it must be said that this changes everything. No need to cut down the surrounding oak forests... You just need to get wood scraps from local carpenters. This type of stove does not need noble wood to do its job.

Regarding wastewater treatment, we have brought the septic tank up to standard and installed an outdoor dry toilet cabin from I-CAG , a Lot specialist, to optimize our waste and compost.

This year, we are working with SYDED to manage our waste and we are of course counting on you to help us during your stay.

We have also decided to join the VALEUR PARC REGIONAL NATUREL label, a label which demonstrates our attachment to this territory with its strong human and social dimension, and to the preservation and enhancement of heritage
